Consulting Services

WE CUSTOMIZE, NOT GENERALIZE

Potential clients have many different reasons for engaging a safety consultant company.

Three primary benefits provided by CP Safety Services (CPSS) include:

  • Ensuring federal, state and local safety regulation compliance.

  • Ensuring employee safety, through training, audits and policies.

  • Managing risk and reducing liability.

The specific tasks performed by a consultant will vary depending on the particulars of an assignment, the company structure, the companies safety culture, maturity, and the industry in which they operate. Our overarching role as safety consultants typically falls into the following general areas.

Evaluating Programs:

When entering a new assignment, CPSS consultant’s first duty is often to evaluate an organization’s existing safety-related policies and programs. In conjunction with this is to also get an understanding of the companies progression in safety maturity/culture.  The consultant must understand current practices before he or she can suggest improvements.

Investigating Incidents or Accidents:

In some cases, CPSS consultants are engaged as a result of on-site incidents or accidents. Safety consultants will investigate the circumstances leading to the incident, identify contributing factors, root causes and corrective actions.  Safety consultants can assist in writing formal responses and post-incident follow-up.

Identifying potential risks in work areas:

The second step is often observation. CPSS consultant spends time in an organization’s work areas to see how safety practices are carried out and to identify areas for improvement. The safety consultant may also personally test equipment or machinery, if he or she has the knowledge, or supervise contractors in completing this task.

Writing Safety Manuals and Policies:

Once CPSS Safety consultants have a full understanding of an organization’s safety needs, he or she can update existing policies/manuals or create safety manuals, policies and/or response plans for ongoing use.

Risk and Liability Surveys:

CPSS consultants can assist with audits and surveys of risk reduction.  This can include facility, equipment, fire and accident/injury mitigations.  A full report with identified risks will be supplied along with suggested improvement ideas.

Providing Training:

CPSS Safety consultants are often called upon to deliver mandated safety training or certifications to a clients employees. The consultant must ensure that the training meets all federal, state, local and/or industry requirements. Provide written documentation of completion and schedule ongoing refresher or re-certification if appropriate.
